This is the closest you can get with out being an actual attendee there. Weve dug up an uncut, extended MTV interview from our vaults - pieces of which were used in the 1994 rockumentary 'Nirvana: Past Present and Future' - and its basically akin to having an. I was used to the original broadcast and so I never got to taste the raw power that was behind this show, and it was released just in time to make me remember how much I love this band and how cool to see any uncut performance is, specially if it has this incredible energy and honesty. Since the audio was not edited for this DVD to be TV/fan-friendly, you can hear Kurt messing up the lyrics for the song Lake of Fire. There is also an interview bonus section nothing out of this world, but it's a plus. Bonus features include the practice session in which they rehearse some songs. Things you'll notice and love are: the uncut broadcast (of course), different camera angles for a lot of shots, and the new audio mastering sounds just amazing. Show's stunning especially if you forgot about it and haven't watched it in some time. This release includes the entire performance, and is supplemented by some rehearsal footage for the sessions and a couple of tracks that weren't originally broadcast by MTV. ![]() Among the many highlights is the performance of "Jesus Don't Want Me For a Sunbeam," which was originally by Scottish indie-pop group (and longstanding favorite of Cobain's) the Vaselines a stunning opening in the form of the BLEACH-era track "About a Girl" and a selection of songs originally performed by underground rock act the Meat Puppets. The results were startling, and for many viewers a hidden depth to Cobain's songwriting talents were revealed as gentle renditions of NEVERMIND staples such as "On a Plain" and "Come As You Are" were stripped down and performed for a specially invited audience. So when Nirvana gathered in New York City on November 18, 1993, he had another trick up his sleeve-an acoustic performance of the raw, ferocious grunge songs that propelled the band to stardom. Kurt Cobain loved to confound his fans' expectations during his brief stint in the spotlight. ![]()
